Doodle-Dee Profile:

I'm a graphic designer by choice and trade. I’ve worked as a freelance designer for a long time now. I’m a mother, a wife (to my fellow doodle-head partner), an artist and a teacher. Like Doodle-Shawn, I teach digital art and motion graphics at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan. I am an awesome cook, and I'm pretty damn funny too...

I grew up in Warren and have loved anything to do with art since my older cousin, Lori, started showing me her sketch books when I was little. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. I started with still lifes and moved on to drawing swirly and type-oriented abstract art. When I started taking traditional and digital courses at Macomb, I convinced my husband to take some courses with me (so he wouldn’t break his clumsy neck getting cats out of trees for a living) and the rest is artistic history.

I was steadily employed until our daughter was born. After that, I started looking for ways to still be artistic and get paid for it at home so I could be with her more. That's when freelance designing really started to kick in for me. I love helping to create how a client will visualize themselves, starting with their logo and building it into a brand. All while wearing bunny-slippers.

Thanks (once again) to “Prof B” and my “Doodle-Doofus” husband for giving me a chance to start teaching art classes in the same school that I started my designing career at. It is a gratifying experience to teach others how to see things differently and creatively, and how to use the tools they need to be successful in such a competitive world.

As for now, I’m still designing and teaching and loving every minute of it.

I like what I do and I hope you do too.
